“The Call”

When God made the world

He called everything good.

It was the most beautiful thing,

As anything with God would.

Everything was perfect.

Everything was pure.

Sin hadn’t corrupted anything.

The goodness of God was sure.

Then God created man

To be to Him a friend.

Man rejected God

And served himself instead.

But God was not done.

He did not reject us.

He sent his begotten son.

The one and only Jesus.

He died on a cross

For the sins of all mankind.

His blood was shed for us.

He was brutally, terribly, crucified.

He rose up again,

Defeating sin and death.

He gave to us a charge

One we must never forget.

We are to spread His love

To everyone we meet.

We are “little Christs” as it were,

We are his hands and feet.

It doesn’t have to be flashy

Or exciting, dangerous, or cool.

But our enemy knows our weakness

And he makes us look like fools.

We complain and argue and fight

On methods and ways of religion.

Jesus criticized the Scribes and Pharisees.

He is against pride and devison.

He wants us to love Him

With everything, our ultimate all.

To love others as ourselves,

To answer the Christian call.

He wanted a relationship with us

From the beginning, the very start.

He doesn’t need us for his work.

He wants to know each of our hearts.

This is true to all the nations

For every man, women, and child.

He is weaving us into His story.

He desires all to be reconciled.

To the children on the street

Hungry, tired, and cold.

To the woman standing beside them

Who for sex, she has been sold.

To the man who’s hooked on drugs

Wasting his life away.

How about our friends and neighbors,

Those we see every day?

Will you answer the call,

Or will you just stand by?

Will you have compassion,

Or will you just let them die?
